We used a mobile app for two seasons to provide our players with a tool that we could use for a number of purposes. Mobile apps can work in a similar way to traditional webpages but, I like the “one stop shopping” nature of them that you can provide players and parents with passive information that they can look up, as well as the functionality of push notifications that they can’t ignore like the do so often with emails.
This past month, we’ve gotten up and running through MVP Team Apps and have been very happy with our experience so far. We use the app to provide our players with important information as well as to reinforce our core values and team culture. Buttons we currently have on our app are:
- Player Calendar
- Game Schedule
- Online Team Camp Registration
- Summer Incentive Program Outline
- Spring Practice Calendar
- Core Principles
- Spring Letter
- Our Winner’s Manual
- Outline and Online Registration for our Summer Speed/Strength Workouts
- YouTube Channel
- Messages (where kids can go back and see old push notifications)
Hopefully you can see some of the possibilities with this technology. If you use a mobile app and have some suggestions for me, hit me up on Twitter @nathanstanley and give me some suggestions. I’m happy to answer questions as well about what we do and why.
